How to Get There
To go to Liang Ndara or Nunang, first you have to reach Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and then to Labuan Bajo in West Flores. From Bali, there are two options for traveling to Flores, and they are:
- By plane, which takes approximately two Hours. Trigana Air, Wings Air and Merpati fly to Labuan Bajo from Denpasar.
- By ship, which takes 38 hours from Benoa Port in Bali.
Once you are in Labuan Bajo, you can hire a car, take a motorbike taxi (ojek) or catch a public transport to Werang bus stop near Wae Sano Village. Nevertheless, hiring car or ojek is more recommended if you want to go to FloresEcotourism villages. Liang Ndara is a 45-minute-drive from Labuan Bajo, while Wae Sano is a 3-hour-drive from the same town.
There are only two kinds of public transport that serve the Labuan Bajo-Werang route. The buses from Nggorang terminal in Labuan Bajo usually leave around 07.00 am and 01.00 pm. Meanwhile, the buses from Werang leave around 07.00 am and 10.00 am. There are also passenger trucks which have the same schedule as the public buses. However, the schedule is subject to change anytime.
As for Liang Ndara, there isn’t any terminal. Visitors can ask the driver to stop at the junction of Melo or Cecer and catch a bus from the junction to go back to Labuan Bajo. It should be noted, though, that most people don’t speak English. So, if you don’t speak Indonesian, it is easier to hire a car with driver.
